Welcome To Brooklyn...Day 1 Blog Trip
I'm proud to say I was born and raised in the great borough of Brooklyn in NYC :) I actually live on the same block that I grew up on in Brooklyn, NY. :) I live in the East New York section of Brooklyn. I went to high school (George W. Wingate High School) in the Crown Heights section. Being a Brooklynite is a huge part of my identity!
It's great to raise my kid's in Brooklyn. There is so much to do here. We have a great park (Prospect Park), Coney Island and the New York Aquarium, The Cyclone rollercoaster and Astroland Park, The Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets Minor League team), Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Junior's Restaurant (famous for it's cheesecake!), Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn Heights Promenade and so much more! But we will explore more of these great places and things to do later on in the week!
I just wanted to mention that it just so happens that today on Labor Day, Brooklyn celebrates with a huge parade! The West Indian Day parade brings Carnival to Brooklyn! It's one big party to celebrate the culture of the West Indies! Great food, music, and beautiful, brightly colored costumes make you feel like you are celebrating on one of the islands of the West Indies!
