Thankful Thursday- Prayer

Philippians 4:6 Pictures, Images and Photos

This week's theme is prayer. Prayer is such a powerful tool in our walk with God. I am thankful that I can:

1. Praise God through prayer
2. Give my problems over to God in prayer
3. Come before God in prayer for my loved ones
4. Pray for forgiveness
5. Pray with others to raise a collective voice to God in worship or in times of need
6. Pray with my children before bedtime
7. Pray for our leaders

Our new President was inaugurated this week so take time to pray for President Obama and his family.

Thankful Thursdays

I haven't been keeping up with my memes but I am going to try and be better about this. I thought this Thursday was an appropriate time to do a Thankful Thursday post.

This year has started out really tough for a lot of people in my family. There has been sickness and some other just really crazy things happening to the people I love. But in all of this I have to be thankful that I serve a God who is faithful. I know that as we go through this period of unrest in my family that I can turn to God in prayer. I can hand it all over to Him and know that he hears me and comforts me.

I am also very thankful for the news I just got from my Mom. Earlier this week we found out they might be closing the local hospital my Dad and brother work at. Me and my Mom have been praying for this not to happen and today we got the news that they voted to keep the hospital open! Praise God!

Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for my Mom's wisdom. She always knows the right words to say to me to keep me focused. She gave me some great advice today and opened my eyes. It was one of those "aha" moments and I am just thankful that God can use my Mom in such a way when it comes to giving me the words I need to encourage me.

I feel like my relationship with my Mom, which was strong to begin with, has strengthened even more now that we are sisters in Christ. I am so thankful that in this season of my life I can have my Mom walking in faith with me. Our bond is so much more spiritual and just knowing that we are both keeping each other in prayer is amazing.

In two weeks she becomes an official member of the church we have been attending. I am so proud of her and can't wait to see her grow even more in her relationship with Christ. It is going to be so cool to be at the prayer service when they announce her membership!!!!

Here we are a few pictures of me and my Mom! The first one is at her surprise 50th birthday party a few years ago, the second picture was at her vow renewal ceremony to mark her and my Dad's 30th wedding anniversary and the last picture is at my wedding (December 2000). Her and my dad will be married 36 years on November 25th! This is the same day she is going to be officially named as a member of our church :)
